Brief Biography:

Michael hails from Markham, Ontario. He will be entering his fourth and final year of the Biochemistry program. Holding the current undergraduate record for most hours slaving away at the lab, he hopes a great scientific breakthrough will soon be underway. When he is not immersed in the realm of riboswitches and cell regulation, he enjoys playing video games or a good competitive game of basketball. Michael hopes to one day become an oncologist, knowing that at one point or another in time, someone has got to find a cure cancer.

"If I could have a super-power, it would be… teleportation, because it's like two super powers in one. If you teleport continuously through the air, you are basically flying."

Research Interests:

My research involves the characterization of novel riboswitch sequences and their potential applications as biosensors and drug targets.
